COAR - Confederation of Open Access Repositories

COAR (Confederation of Open Access Repositories) is a global association of Repository Initiatives and Networks. COAR includes over 90 Institutions worldwide (Europe, Asia, Latinamerica, USA, Canada and Africa).

Its core mission is to enhance greater visibility and application of research outputs through global networks of Open Access digital repositories. 

Strategic activities include Advocacy, Coordination and Interoperability with existing Repository networks (i.e. OpenAIRE, La Referencia).

e-Infrastructures Austria takes part in COAR through the cooperation with ACOnet and the long standing COAR membership of the University of Vienna. During the fifth General Assembly of e-Infrastructures Austria (April 23rd 2015, University of Graz), Kathleen Shearer, Executive Director of COAR, held a presentation regarding the benefits of the COAR Membership.

The COAR Annual Meeting and General Assembly 2016 will take place in Austria at the University of Vienna, from April 12-13, 2016.
