Cluster H - Life Cycle Management

Cluster H deals with the technical aspects of the data lifecycle management. It discusses what services and interfaces the Data Repositories should offer to make permanently available a trusted and useful archive of research data. This includes a number of processes in the areas of ingest (data acquisition, metadata, quality assurance, etc), management of data and metadata (versioning on additions, corrections, signature, provenance trails, migrations, etc), and access (search, ability of quoting from arbitrary subsets of data, presentation, individual vs. mass access to data, etc).

For this purpose, similarities and differences concerning the requirements and technical implementations (Services APIs) in different disciplines and for different types of data (CSV, SQL DBMS, data streaming, file-based repositories, etc.) will be discussed and recommendations will be made.

Team Leader: Andreas Rauber, Institute for Software Engineering and Interactive Systems, Vienna University of Technology.

Andreas Rauber is Senior Lecturer and Professor at the Institute for Software Engineering and Interactive Systems, Vienna University of Technology. In addition to his work in the areas of data analysis and information retrieval, he also undertakes research in digital preservation, the traceability of eScience, and the underlying infrastructure for Research.
